Position Title
Data Insights Manager

About the Role

We're looking for a Data Insights Manager to lead DNZ's data strategy and ensure the seamless flow of information across the business. This role is pivotal in providing stakeholders with timely, high-quality, and actionable data and insights that support strategic decision-making and drive business performance.

You'll be responsible for managing DNZ's retail data ecosystem — from sourcing and maintaining multiple data streams to delivering robust reporting, optimising data processes, and unlocking insights that inform commercial and strategic initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

1. Data Management and Governance
  • Oversee the collation of DNZ retail scan data from multiple providers.
  • Retrieve, organise, and securely store all relevant data while maintaining and updating scan databases in line with established reporting cycles.

2. Reporting and Insights Delivery
  • Prepare and distribute scheduled monthly and quarterly retail and market data reports.
  • Ensure reporting accuracy, consistency, and timeliness to support business planning and decision-making.
  • Prepare and update monthly source files to enable the creation of vendor reports and reviews.

3. Data Consolidation and Accessibility
  • Create and maintain accurate, accessible summary files that consolidate QlikSense, TMR & Demand outputs, Purchase Plans, and retail scan/loyalty data.
  • Enable efficient creation of vendor reports and monthly business presentations.

4. Continuous Improvement and Innovation
  • Continuously evaluate and enhance the effectiveness of DNZ's retail data reporting.
  • Apply best-in-class methodologies and stay current with leading practices to ensure insights remain relevant, accurate, and impactful.

5. Supplier and Commercial Management
  • Oversee relationships with New Zealand data suppliers, including contract negotiations, budget tracking, and issue resolution.
  • Monitor sourcing costs against budget and ensure reliable, cost-effective, and high-quality data delivery.

6. Systems Expertise and Training
  • Act as DNZ's subject matter expert for vendor data platforms, including Circana Temple, Circana RetailEdge, Quantium QCheckout, Dunnhumby Shop, and IQvia Miportal.
  • Lead onboarding, training, and support to ensure effective adoption and utilisation across the business.

7. Strategic & Ad Hoc Analysis
  • Lead and deliver ad hoc data analytics projects to address key business questions.
  • Analyse relevant data feeds and communicate findings and recommendations clearly to internal and external stakeholders to support informed decision-making.

About You

You're an experienced data professional who combines strong analytical and commercial acumen with the ability to lead and influence. You're passionate about making data accessible, accurate, and impactful — and confident turning complex information into clear, actionable insights.

You will bring:
  • A relevant tertiary qualification (e.g., Data Science, Business Analytics, Statistics, or a related discipline).
  • Proven experience managing data and insights within a retail or FMCG environment.
  • Expertise in handling retail scan data (Circana, Dunnhumby, Quantium, IQvia, etc.).
  • Strong proficiency in reporting tools and data visualisation platforms (e.g., Power BI, QlikSense).
  • Experience managing external data suppliers and budgets.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • A continuous improvement mindset with exposure to emerging data technologies or AI tools.

If you or someone you know is interested in applying, please contact the HR team.

Kind regards,
Sharina.
