Financial Controller
About this role:
We are seeking an Financial Controller to join our team at Diplomat New Zealand Limited in our Takapuna, Auckland office. We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Financial Controller to oversee our financial operations, ensure accurate financial reporting, supporting strategic decision making. The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining strong financial controls, improving processes and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
Key responsibilities
- Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable and fixed assets.
- Prepare accurate monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements.
- Manage Opex budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
- Ensure compliance with statutory, tax and regulatory requirements.
- Develop, implement and maintain effective internal controls and financial policies.
- Coordinate and manage external audits and liaise with auditors and regulators.
- Monitor cash flow, working capital and financial performance.
- Provide financial insights and reports to senior management to support strategic decisions.
- Lead, mentor and develop the finance team.
- Identify opportunities to improve financial systems, processes and controls.
What we're looking for
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance or a related field (Master's degree is an advantage)
- Professional accounting qualifications (e.g. CPA, ACCA, CIMA, CA)
- Minimum 4 years of experience in a similar Financial Controller or senior accounting role
- Strong knowledge of accounting standards, financial reporting and tax regulations
- Proven experience with budgeting, forecasting and financial analysis
- Proficiency in accounting software and advanced Excel skills
- Excellent leadership, communication and analytical skills
- High level of integrity, accuracy and attention to detail
