At Diplomat, promotion from within is the norm. This is the kind of company where you can, and are encouraged to, leave your mark.”

When I joined Diplomat Israel in 2003, I never imagined that in such a short time, the company would grow and expand so fast into so many new categories. Or that I would advance so quickly and move between sales and marketing so easily. At Diplomat, promotion from within is the norm. This is the kind of company where you can, and are encouraged to, leave your mark. Management doesn’t just listen; they actively expect you to initiate and welcome creative input – at any level.

No two days are ever the same in the food industry. As a matter fact, no two hours are the same! The dynamic markets we operate in, and the seasonal shifts, demand creativity and innovation. The unique integration of sales and marketing here is an ideal, 360-degree approach that exposes us to both sides of the coin. This means that we are constantly learning, and almost never miss our mark.

Working at Diplomat has offered me endless possibilities… and infinite borders! This opportunity for international exposure is one of the most incredibly enriching experiences of my career.

I began my career at Diplomat Israel as a financial analyst, and before I knew it, I was promoted to Manager of the Economics Department just a year later. But instead of feeling like I was tossed into the sea to sink or swim, I was encouraged by such a supportive, family-like atmosphere. Even after a heated professional discussion, once a decision was made, we all went out for a beer and had a good time.

Being part of establishing the South African subsidiary was incredibly exciting, and put me on the fast track toward building the financial infrastructure here. Working at Diplomat has offered me endless possibilities… and infinite borders! This international opportunity for exposure is one of the most incredibly enriching experiences of my career.

Diplomat is like my second home. I developed by career here, and really came of age in the company. It’s a great place to work.”

I joined Diplomat as Beauty Advisor in 1995 when I was a college student. It was the perfect job; flexible so I could invest in my studies, but exciting and perfectly suited to my love for the world of cosmetics and beauty. Over the years, I really learned the industry inside out, moving from sales to marketing to sales-out and business development, and back to sales again as a manager. I have also seen the evolution of the Israeli consumer and the influence so many international brands has had on the market. This field never stays the same for long.

The company expects and encourages us to take initiative – at every level. This is what new Beauty Advisors need to know; Diplomat is very much a two way street for information and knowledge sharing. You learn and you contribute all the time. Diplomat is like my second home. I developed my career here, and really came of age in the company. It’s a great place to work.

“Besides the wonderful brands we represent, the business approach and training I received at Diplomat is a great selling point on its own. The trade recognizes Diplomat thinking straight away, and we stand out from the competition because we ‘speak Diplomat.’”

As a young graduate, fresh out of college, I was skeptic about accepting a position as a Customer Sales Agent. What promise of growth or advancement could such a position offer? I could not have been more mistaken! Working with the trade on a regional and area level, in both large supermarket chains and private chains provided unbelievable training, and an environment where my accomplishments and merit were not only rewarded but also celebrated.

Working at Diplomat has helped me realize my potential and offered an amazing opportunity to ‘play in the big leagues.’ But even more, it is a pleasure to work with such great and supportive people. These kind of employee benefits cannot be measured...or taken for granted.

At Diplomat, logistics is never boring. I can honestly say that I learn something new every single day. We are lucky to work with the most state-of-the-art technologies. This makes working here incredibly interesting.”

I think that one of the most important benefits of working at Diplomat is that my managers, and the company as a whole, takes a real vested interest in my development. There are so many courses. But even more, they want to share their experience with you and get real pleasure from seeing you excel and progress. This is incredibly satisfying.

At Diplomat, logistics is never boring. I can honestly say that I learn something new every single day. In fact, one of my managers was my instructor in school. We are lucky to work with the most state-of-the-art technologies. This makes working here incredibly interesting. The recruitment process may seem long; but it is well worth the wait.

This is a serious company; a company that simply knows what’s it doing. It’s a complex business, but it runs like well-oiled machine. We work hard. But we also play hard, and have a lot of fun together.”

As a driver, I really get know my route and my customers. And they know me. When I have had to replace a driver on a route because he was sick or on reserve duty, his customers always ask where ‘their guy’ is, and want to make sure he is OK. That’s nice.

I also hear what they have to say about other suppliers. They expect more from Diplomat, because they know that we take personal responsibility and do things right. They appreciate it. So do our managers. And they show their appreciation.

This is a serious company; a company that simply knows what’s it doing. It’s a complex business, but it runs like well-oiled machine. We work hard. But we also play hard, and have a lot of fun together. Whether at a restaurant or on the soccer field. I feel very connected to the company and wouldn’t want to work anywhere else.

"Diplomat SA – a company with its robust culture, state of the art systems and brilliant strategic goals a business to be in!! "

I Joined DSA in March 2011, when DSA was at its infancy stage.

I can recall my first few days being employed at DSA, it seemed so strange coming from an established company to one that had no history in the South African FMCG industry.

It certainly did not take too long before I knew that I had joined a company that is going to make history in the SA market. I recall using my g mail account with my work colleagues as this is how we started the business in SA from an operations perspective.

I initially assisted with the setup and process alignment in the Operations department and then soon after found myself running the Durban depot for almost 3 years after which DSA decided it was time to give me another challenge as National Operations Manager. This challenge I embraced 100% as the culture of Diplomat to promote from within was yet another milestone in its PVP.

I have worked in the FMCG industry for almost 22years and I have NEVER seen a business grow so exponentially as what DSA has shown in such a short space of time.

Where to for me now?

Well the sky is the limit and I hope to one day retire at Diplomat.
